Portrait Photo shoot- Direct flash

I have really wanted to do this shoot for ages after watching Jessica Kobeissi on You tube do a shoot using direct flash. It has a look of Paparazzi or as if you were taken by surprise and can have a look of punk/rock style about it. I love this look and I am noticing it is used in a lot of fashion magazines at the moment. I feel I still have lots to learn in photography, but I am enjoying it. I am also using photoshop for all my editing, which I am teaching myself. I try and learn something new for each shoot I do.

Photography

I did the shoot in my studio in Falmouth with a white wall and one model. I used my Canon 5D mark ii with a 25-70 ml Lens Ap 2.8. My settings were 200 shutter speed, 1s0 100 and aperture 9.
I had my Yongou speedlight on my camera set to multi function and 1/4-8 power.
I had Chloe the model wear black or white for most part of the shoot, but we did add jeans at some point.

Makeup

I wanted a strong smokey eye liner and a red lip. The makeup I used was:
Mac Studio sculpt foundation- mixed colours
MUFE- concealer and corrector
Too faced chocolate palette eyeshadows and Illamasqua neutral palette
Mac Prep and prime powder
Mac red lip pencil in Redd
Mac lipstick in lady danger
Gloss used half way through YSL gloss

I have put together a behind the scenes video showing step by step the makeup and the shoot. This is my first video so not perfect, but I am pretty pleased with it. ðŸ™‚

Fashion Shoot

Fashion shoot with
Photographer Andrea Michele and Designer Dawn Freeman

A very quick shoot. The makeup was held at my studio, Blush. Andrea wanted a strong look on each of the girls. There was't a lot of time but I managed to get both of them done. The shoot was held in  Vertigo before it opened for lunch!

Makeover Experience

Catherine before the makeover

Catherine our willing model allowed me to take a before photo to show the difference. The makeup was a winged out smokey grey with false lashes to add glamour. The skin was kept luminous and the lips started as neutral then added a red for an evening look. The hair was kept soft and wavy with the sides swept off the face. We started out in the studio but then went out into the Old bakery for some fashion shots. The whole experience took around 3 hours and was great fun.

Catherine
I was picked to do a make-over shoot and felt extremely excited and lucky. I turned up at 9.30 looking rough as rats and was transformed. I was totally blown away when i saw the fantastic make-up Sally had put on me. Smoky sexy eyes even though it was still the morning. I then had my hair done by Lynn and put on the clothes i had bought and was taken to the photography studio. This was the best part for me i was made to feel extremely relaxed and pouted and posed whilst the cameras were flashing. I felt like a star and was over joyed to see the photos that were taken. Thank you very much Blush and Radical eye photography, i had such a fantastic day and now have the prints to remember my special moment .
